Since the RFE transmission hit the market in 1999, owners have battled the same frustrating issues—premature clutch failure, worn valve‑body bores, and chronic hydraulic cross‑leaks. The root cause shows up again and again: the factory channel plate simply isn’t strong enough. With 80–90% of cross‑leaks traced directly to the OE casting, it’s clear the stock design was never built for long‑term durability or higher‑pressure performance.

Take a close look at the factory plate with a straightedge and the problem becomes obvious. The casting flexes, warps, and provides minimal support for the valve body. That lack of rigidity leads to fourth‑gear clutch failure, damaged valve lands, and valve‑body wear that often forces owners to replace the entire assembly in as little as 60–70k miles. It’s an expensive cycle—and one we set out to break for good.

To solve the problem permanently, we engineered a billet aluminum channel plate that eliminates flexing and provides a rock‑solid foundation for the valve body. Machined from a solid 1‑inch block, the plate features shallow hydraulic circuits, optimized passage locations, and the removal of unnecessary channels to prevent separator‑plate chafing and cracking under high line pressure. This is not a patch—it’s a complete structural upgrade.

The best part? The billet plate works with stock hardware, accepts either a bonded or OE separator plate, and supports everything from factory tuning to aggressive high‑pressure performance setups using our D‑CF2 plate. It’s designed to be the last channel plate—and the last valve‑body fix—you’ll ever need.

Our testing proves it. The OE plate warped to .168" and cracked at just 300 lbs of pressure. Our billet plate didn’t budge at 1 ton, flexed only .021" at 2 tons, and just .047" at 5 tons. Even at 10 tons, it held strong with controlled flex and partial recovery. That’s the kind of strength you can trust in towing, performance, and daily‑driving applications.
