BorgWarner EFR 7670-D Turbocharger 179392
What kind of turbo would you create for your ultimate high-performance build? BorgWarner’s engineers in the Advanced Aftermarket Products (AAP) group asked themselves the same question—and then designed it. Starting with a clean sheet, they compiled a wish list of every desirable feature in a modern performance turbocharger and combined cutting-edge materials and technologies never before used together in the aftermarket.
The result is the EFR (Engineered for Racing) turbocharger line: a family of turbos that deliver rapid boost response, exceptional power, and uncompromising reliability. The EFR series represents the very peak of current turbo technology—balancing performance, durability, appearance, and value in a way no other turbocharger line has achieved. Quite simply, it’s the best aftermarket turbo money can buy—and BorgWarner continues to raise the bar with expanded housing and feature options.
Innovative Technology & Design
The BorgWarner EFR Series brings together an unprecedented combination of materials and engineering advancements, including:
Lightweight Gamma-Ti (Titanium Aluminide) turbine wheels and shafts for ultra-fast spool and reduced rotational inertia
Patent-pending dual ceramic ball bearing cartridges providing greater thrust capacity, improved efficiency, and extended service life
Stainless steel investment-cast turbine housings that offer increased durability, high-heat resistance, and corrosion protection
Broad performance range, with units supporting anywhere from 225 to 1,000 horsepower per turbocharger
Compressor Design
Derived from BorgWarner’s extensive experience with high-efficiency commercial and motorsport turbo systems, EFR compressors are designed for exceptional performance and boost control. These wheels offer superior efficiency, flow range, and pressure ratio capability, ensuring optimal response across the powerband.
Compressor Range: 62 mm O.D. (50 mm inducer) to 91 mm O.D. (68 mm inducer)
Turbine Technology
EFR turbine wheels are crafted from Gamma-Ti (titanium aluminide)—a material that bridges the gap between ceramic and metal, offering outstanding strength-to-weight performance even at extreme temperatures. Because Gamma-Ti wheels weigh approximately 50% less than traditional turbine wheels, they require less energy to accelerate, dramatically improving spool time and transient response.
These turbines also feature BorgWarner’s latest “Superback” and “Fullback” wheel designs, optimized for high-boost, high-efficiency operation.
Turbine Range: 58 mm O.D. to 80 mm O.D.
Compressor & Turbine Pairing
Each EFR turbo is meticulously matched to ensure ideal compressor and turbine flow balance for the fastest possible response and optimal power delivery. Multiple A/R turbine housing options allow you to fine-tune the setup to your specific performance goals.
